Ia ora na,

Thank you for purchasing your custom Joints’ Speargun.

Each Joints’ speargun is the result of countless hours of development and testing. No detail has been spared to give you the best speargun possible. I truly hope that you will enjoy it and have it as a permanent companion on your spearfishing adventures.

Below are some important things that I would like to bring to your attention:

  • A speargun is potentially dangerous and must be used with uttermost care.

  • Never aim a loaded speargun at a person, while in or out of the water.

  • The trigger mechanism has no safety and must be handled with care. The trigger is very sensitive.

  • As any other mechanical device, after long use, the trigger mechanism can run into wear and tear issues over time. So again, please do not point the loaded speargun at anyone or yourself. Keep a safe distance from others at all times.

  • Never load or use the speargun out of the water. The power generated out of the water will permanently damage the functionality of the speargun and can deem the speargun dangerous to the nearby people and objects.

  • I would strongly encourage you to set up a small target in the swimming pool or shallow waters, to learn how to manoeuvre and aim the speargun properly. Really get a feel for your new Joints speargun, this will only give you the upper hand on your next spearfishing trip! If you have any questions, concerns, comments, story sharing, please do not hesitate to contact me via my Facebook page or email at any time.

SPEARGUN CARE & INSTRUCTIONS

spearguns care

To get the most of your speargun performance and to make sure to extend its lifetime, please follow the steps below:

  • Avoid dropping the speargun on the sand as the grains may scratch the surface of the finishing as well as clog the mechanism.

  • Salt can be very tough on gear. After each use, ensure to thoroughly rinse your speargun with freshwater. Your teak speargun does not need to be cleaned with any cleaning materials or chemicals. Freshwater is all it needs.

  • Don’t dry in direct sunlight. Direct UV rays may affect the colour of teak.

  • Ensure the gear is dry before storing it.

  • If you find that teak is getting a bit dull after awhile, a single coat of teak oil will bring it right back to life. When the speargun is completely dry, grab a soft cloth, pour a small amount of teak oil on the cloth (Starbright brand or similar) and wipe down the speargun. The teak will absorb the oil making the speargun look brand new.

  • Ever so often, a drop of WD40 (or similar) into the mechanism will ensure that all parts are properly lubricated and run smoothly.

  • When you notice your shooting line starting to look used up, please change it. This is one of the main reasons why the shaft may be lost.

  • When replacing your line in roller speargun, ensure to tie it to the ring located at mid point of the shaft. This is very important for precision and accuracy. .

  • If you have to replace bands or shafts, please use the same dimensions as provided with the speargun  (if other dimensions are used, the warranty on the speargun  will be null and void). If in doubt of the dimensions and specs of the bands and shafts, please contact Joints Spearfishing Tahiti at mr.joints.spearguns@gmail.com
